Freedom…A Pause for Thought
posted by AlumCreek @ 10:20am, Thursday 30 June 2011.
Sometimes freedom is taken for granted. Everyday liberties
that offer us choice” are so common that we take them without any thought or
consideration because they have become so engrained in our lifestyles. But how
many other people living in this world are as lucky as Americans? How many have
the freedom to shop, eat, work, play, buy a home or car, travel, or just
experience life without really any limitations? The idea of freedom is a
wondrous and powerful thing. For many, it has been and still is a struggle. For
those now living in the U.S.A., we experience this each and every single
day. In everything we do, from driving
on the interstate to picking out a movie at the theater, is a personal freedom
that has been granted to us because our ancestors fought for a dream and a
vision.
Let’s hope that the youth of our nation fully understand and will never forget what our founding fathers worked so hard to achieve for all of us. As we look to the younger generations to lead our country, we hope they will continue to always choose freedom.
As this weekend approaches, we will be gathering with our friends and families to share in firework displays and social events. It is a time of great remembrance and also a time to consider what freedom means to us personally. Our constitutional rights are the backbone of our country. They are what make us different from ANY other country. The constitution is the result of the hard work, blood, sweat and tears that our ancestors experienced to get us to this point.
Perhaps this year, we should all pause for a moment’s thought to recognize what freedom is and to give gratitude to all those who brought and continue to bring us this concept. It is a treasure that each of us holds, perhaps without ever realizing its inherent value.
As this 4th of July comes upon us, remember what our country stands for and what it means to be an American. Remember that freedom is an idea that lives within our hearts and that it is what truly defines our country.

Our founding fathers gave us their lives.
Their sons and daughters carried on with pride.
Our fight for liberty and freedom has no end.
It’s with our lives that we defend.
‘Cause This Is America
The place where freedom found its home
In our hearts and minds and I will never let it go
Stand up in America
Stand tall for all that we believe in.
Long live freedom in America.
Our right to worship, our right to speech.
Our right to vote, our right to be free
The right of every child to dream and to believe
No one can take these rights from me
‘Cause This Is America
The place where freedom found its home
In our hearts and minds and I will never let it go
Stand up in America
Stand tall for all that we believe in.
Long live freedom in America.
And the words of our founding fathers can still be heard tonight
In the voices of all who cry out, cry out for what is right.
This is America
The place where freedom found its home
In our hearts and minds and I will never let it go
C’mon stand up in America
Stand tall for all that we believe in.
Long live freedom, long live freedom…
in America.

Hi,
This is Kevin. Thanks for pointing out that freedom isn't free, and posting the lyrics to the song. BTW, taking an RV trip around the country is a great way to connect with America...
